Cole was about to make a comment in return to what Katniss had said, but before the words could leave her lips Katniss motioned for her to hide. She'd never had a serious run-in with the peacekeepers before. Usually, she avoided them at all cost. Her mother relied on her for everything, she had to stay away from trouble.
Her heart skipped a beat as they went by. It was only the two of them, and she trusted that Katniss had been out here enough for everyone to be thrilled by her hunting, not threatened. Whatever they were looking for, it was still out there.
"Think maybe it has something to do with the fear of the reaping?" Cole questioned, glancing over her shoulder to make sure they weren't coming back. "I've considered running, but I just coudln't do it." Turning her attention back to Katniss, she rose an eyebrow. "Whoever they were looking for, I doubt they've found. Think we'll be able to work around them?"

Katniss looked at Cole then down the area where the Peacekeepers went. She knew then that they were not looking for her, for they would have rebound already. She shook her head then and looked back at Cole. "We can try, no guarantee for anything. If we see more, we head back to the district, I dont want to chance anything."
She was not one fore getting into trouble and she was not going to drag another person down with her. She looked around then and she found a squirrel. She notched her arrow again and she focused before she shot the arrow at the squirrel. She watched as the arrow went into the eye socket and she looked at Cole. "Well, we will not go empty handed." She chuckled lightly.

"Wouldn't you love to use that bow on them?" Cole gave a slight smile and a nod. She knew Katniss was right, if it came down to it, they'd have to bail. But Cole couldn't help but be curious who or what they were after. She'd never follow, but she wished she had the guts to.
She watched closely as Katniss shot the squirrel through the eye. She gave her a smile. "Who taught you to shoot like that?" It was always something she'd been interested in. She'd heard her father brag a time or two before about how clean Katniss could make a kill. Cole's dad, on the other hand, couldn't seem to find the time to teach her how to hunt. He'd spend time with her everyday working with the knife, but then he was gone again. She had to teach herself.
She walked slowly to where Katniss had made the kill. Bending down, she looked closely at the shot. "You've got a real talent for this," she glanced back. "At least if you get reaped, you've got a good chance."

Kat looks at Cole and she chuckles. "There are moments when I truely think about that yes. But that would be worse news for me." Kat walks over to her kill then and she removes her arrow. She hides the rabbit then in a hollow tree. She looks back at Cole and she looks on.
"Ready for more hunting. We can see what we can get now." She walks forward a bit and she looks back when Cole compliments her then talks about the reaping. "I probably would have the upper advantage, but I would rather not get reaped at all." She sighs then.
She looks around and she listens to the forest and looks back at Cole. "So, what are you in the mood for?' There was plenty in the forest and she could find a good place for all of the animals in it.

"Yeah," Cole grinned. "But wouldn't it be sweet?"
She found it odd, sharing conversation with Katniss, but she was starting to feel more at ease with the girl. Not to mention it was nice finally having someone to joke about the Peacekeepers with. Funny things, they were. Dangerous, but funny.
"Yeah.. I'd like to not get reaped, either," Cole shifted her lips a little. "But hey, we can blow some steam. The forest is at our fingertips." She gave a shrug, thinking of what she would be in the mood for. "I don't usually eat enough to decide what I like, my mom is sick, so I try to give her as much of the protien as possible."
Cole then took a few steps forward, looking around the forest. There was a flock of birds just above them, and she could tell by their movements that they were just about to fly away. She turned her head and gave Katniss a grin, "Moving targets, twelve o'clock."

She chuckles then and nods. "It would be great, if trouble did not come afterwards."
Katniss looked at Cole then and she looked closely. The girl was sweet and she was wary of that, but she was also guarded and she knew her ways around knives and she knew how to protect herself. All she needed for the games if she was reaped was to learn how to hunt really well and leave no tracks afterwards.
"Reaping bad, really really bad." She agreed once more. She hated the sound of the word, and she would never let her sister get reaped while Katniss was able to go in. She heard about the sickness of Cole's mom and she sighs sadly. "Well, if you really need anything, my mother and sister are healers. They can look at your mom and see what they can do to help." She offered to her kindly.
Cole would make a good friend, and maybe that could come from the two girls. A solid friendship. She looked then and she raised her bow and notched an arrow. She shot and arrow and hit one, and notched another arrow and shot again. She hit one of the birds right before it got away with the rest of the flock. "Looks like we will eat good tonight and trade well too." She smiles then and looks back at Cole.
